God’s Special Intervention for Mankind

“…For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood

Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation” – Revelation 5:9 (NKJV)

Have you ever wondered about your redemption, or more directly, Christ’s redemptive work? Or, have you ever stopped to consider how it was done and by what means? Consider the following:

1. Christ became the mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5) and caused all things to be restored (Colossians 1:15-20).

2. Christ gave His life as a price of purchase, or ransom, for us (Mark 10:45; 1 Peter 1:18–19).

3. Christ experienced suffering and death due to sin and on behalf of all sinners (John 1:29; 1 Corinthians 15:3).

4. Christ offered Himself on the cross for us (Romans 3:25).

5. Christ’s triumph over satan, sin, and death (Colossians 1:13; 2:15).

6. Christ’s obedience (John 10:18; 14.31).

7. Christ’s resurrection (Romans 4:25; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4) and His intercession for us (Romans 8:34).

Over 2000 years ago, that singular redemptive act by Christ purchased our freedom, healing, and deliverance from bondage. In Christian parlance, redemption refers to “God’s deliverance of mankind from the evil of sin and His restoration of man to the state of grace by an act of divine power and love.” Christ stood in the gap for us. He endured physical pain, emotional trauma, and spiritual abandonment and guaranteed our access to God (Hebrews 4:16).

We have all been made righteous in God’s sight because of Christ’s redemptive act (Romans 3:20-22). His work is perfect and complete, and its benefits are perpetual. Thus, we do not need to strive for ways to find acceptance in God’s sight or perform ‘good’ works. Christ has paved the way for us to be reconciled, recreated, and restored to God’s image, just as He had intended at creation. We only need to acknowledge His goodness towards us through Christ’s atoning sacrifice and depend on Him to take us through life (1 Peter 2:3).

Develop a personal relationship with God where, just like the apostle Paul, we will understand the power of Christ’s redemptive act (Philippians 3:9-10).

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the great sacrifice that Christ made so we could be reconciled to You. Thank You for Your love, grace, and mercy that You extend to us daily. Help us not to take Christ’s
